We're so excited to have another ecovillage starting up near here. If you have been following us, but think Chester County is a little too far away for you, Mount Eden might be the spot for you.

The official introduction of the Mount Eden Ecovillage project will be held in conjunction with the Annual Kindred Spirits Fair and Music Festival, a two-day event:

 

Saturday, May 22 - 10:00am to 8:00pm
Sunday, May 23 - 10:00am to 6:00pm

Mount Eden Ecovillage is part of a growing global movement for a more sustainable human culture.

 

Ecovillages are communities which strive to integrate a supportive social environment with a low-impact way of life. To achieve this, they incorporate various aspects of ecological design, cohousing, permaculture, green building, alternative energy, and much more.

 

The 189-acre Mount Eden property is located on the top of a bucolic hill, but it is by no means remote or inaccessible. It has good proximity to nearby Washington Township and is close to Interstate highways 78, 80, and 287 (so travel time is only about an hour to Newark Airport, the NJ Turnpike, and the Holland Tunnel into New York City).

 

Initial plans are to build 35 very green residences and an organic farm. In addition, there is room on the land for recreational facilities, an existing retreat center, and future expansion.

The Kindred Spirits Fair and Music Festival brings in over 1000 people from all around New Jersey and the region. It has taken place at the Mount Eden Retreat Center for over 16 years. During that time it has grown into a remarkable and colorful celebration of life and a wonderful opportunity for networking, learning and sharing the pleasures of coming together in peace and harmony.

 

The two-day event features a full line-up of workshops, speakers, musical groups and hands-on demonstrations, including:
. 100 vendors offering quality hand-made crafted items, health foods, jewelry, mind-body-spirit services, and more.
. 189 acres of private grounds with trails to be explored.
. A variety of special children's programs.
. Delicious natural and organic food vendors serving from morning into the night.
. A ceremony of world peace with flags of nearly 200 countries represented.
. Music throughout the weekend.

Dear Delane and Steve,
My husband and I are so excited about the possibility of living in a green community. I had the pleasure of attending several retreats at Mt Eden years ago and remember how magical the energy was. I am a psychotherapist who works with autistic, own Syndrome and Multily Handicapped kids in NJ. In addition, I practice Pranic Healing, Reiki and Meditation. My husband is in the car repair business. We were wonering if we could get an appointment to speak to you more. We are available on Sunday March 13th. Let me know. Sundays are best for us.
