In just the last few weeks, Three Groves Ecovillage has gone from four Member Households to six. I am pleased to announce that our fifth household is Peter Kjellerup and Mandy Cabot, while our sixth household consists of Joyce and Steve Ford. Peter and Mandy are the owners of the Dansko footwear company, while Steve and Joyce own the Perfect Cup Café in Hockessin, DE. If you are in need of a pair of great shoes or a delicious meal, now you know where I think you should go.
There are a number of other households studying the legal documents carefully right now, and I expect more members to join before the end of the month. In case you missed it, the price of Membership (with the right to participate in our decision-making) and the price of getting on the Lot Selection List both go up at the end of the month. These fees apply to home downpayments. If you need copies of the documents, let me know using the email link in the margin or if you already have them, my personal email or phone number. As always, if you have any questions, direct them my way and I will give you the answers I have.
It has occurred to us that as the group starts to grow quickly, it will be harder to get to know each other. To help resolve that issue, we are working on a series of little interviews. We’ll post those to the website as we finish them so that you all can get to know us better, too. It kind of reminds me of being back in college and joining a new club. The new members had to study profiles on the older members, and then sit down with them for a little chat and feed back to them what they had learned about them. It’s a great way to build the community before we build the buildings.
