My daughter Kira (age 9) is very enthusiastic about the idea of building an ecovillage. When I said that we needed money, she offered her allowance. When I told her that we get to design our community, she declared that it needed treehouses. When I suggested that she write an essay about why she wants to live in an ecovillage, she decided that she would be a newspaper reporter and promptly interviewed herself. Then she decided that she would organized all of the children in the community as news correspondents. This could take some time since most of them are only beginning to learn to write.
So here begins the Children's Press. We'll see where Kira leads us.

Dear Kira,
I think your ideas sound fun. I am a preschool teacher here in Media, Pa and wonder if you think it would be fun to help take care of animals (maybe chickens?) at the ecovillage.
I'll continue to read more about Three Groves ..

Dear Mrs Healy,
We hatched chicks in an incubator in class and got to take care of them. Bonnie and Anthony just got more chicks, so maybe they can share some eggs with us again soon. We like the fresh eggs from their chickens, but Anthony thinks we should raise fish to eat like Mom did in the sunroom. Maybe we can have both. Mom says we have to wait to see what everyone wants.

Hi Linda,
Kira was lobbying for cows and horses...I had to talk her down. ;-) A few chickens for eggs does sound nice.
Just fyi, my 9-year-old is not up at 9:41 in the evening to make her comment. That's just when I was able to provide "Tech Support" this evening.
